Vegan Creamy Strawberry Guava Banana Ice Cream Sorbet

This Creamy Strawberry Guava Banana Ice Cream Sorbet will be your new favorite. My kids love it and feel like they’re eating real ice cream. This sorbet features the goodness of chia and hemp seeds combined with the creaminess of plant-based yogurt. The sweet flavors from fresh fruits, make it an excellent dessert for hot days or any time you want a cool snack.

Ingredients

  • - 5 frozen guavas seeds removed if desired and flesh scooped out
  • - 7 frozen strawberries hulled
  • - 2 frozen ripe bananas peeled and sliced
  • - 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • - 1 tablespoon hemp seeds
  • - 3 tablespoons plant-based yogurt unsweetened
  • - Pinch of salt
  • - Optional: Splash of vanilla extract
  • - Optional: Honey or maple syrup to taste (adjust based on sweetness preference)

Instructions

  • Prepare the Fruits
  • First, let’s get the fruits ready. If you prefer a seedless sorbet, scoop out the flesh of the guavas and discard the seeds. Alternatively, you can strain the mixture later to remove the seeds. Next, hull your strawberries and slice your bananas. Using frozen fruits makes preparation quicker and easier while giving the sorbet a fabulous texture. ( See notes if using non frozen fruit)
  • Blend them all!
  • In a food processor, mix the guava with strawberries and sliced bananas. Add in chia seeds, hemp seeds, plant-based yogurt, a pinch of salt, and a splash of vanilla extract if desired. Adjust the sweetness with honey or maple syrup based on the sweetness of your fruits. I love adding a drop of maple syrup for its rich taste and pleasant aroma.
  • Blend Until Smooth
  • Blend everything in the blender until smooth. The plant-based yogurt adds creaminess, while the seeds add a mild crunch and improve nutritional value. If you find the sorbet too grainy, you can either strain it using a fine mesh sieve or blend it again for a smoother texture.
  • Chill and Freeze
  • Pour the mixture into an ice cream maker or a flat dish. Cover and let it cool in the refrigerator for at least one hour until it becomes fully cooled and slightly firm. This step enhances the flavors while achieving the perfect creamy texture.
  • Further Freezing Options
  • To get a thicker consistency, keep it in the fridge for an additional 1-2 hours before serving. If freezing overnight, break the sorbet into small ice cubes before blending it again into a creamy and thick dessert.
  • Serve and Enjoy
  • Scoop the creamy strawberry guava banana sorbet into bowls or cones. Garnish with fresh fruit slices, mint leaves, or a drizzle of honey. Its vibrant colors and refreshing taste make it a hit every time.

Notes

Notes:
•If you plan to use an ice cream maker, you don’t need to use frozen fruit. You can simply use fresh fruit, and the ice cream maker will take care of freezing the mixture.
•If you want a quick and fast ice cream, it’s better to use frozen fruit and a food processor. This method allows for a faster preparation time, giving you a quick sorbet.
•If using fresh fruit and an ice cream maker, make sure to strain the seeds if you don’t like the seeds in your sorbet.

Tips for the Perfect Sorbet:

Customize Your Sweetness

Adjust the sweetness of your sorbet by adding more or less honey or maple syrup to your liking. Often, the natural sweetness of the fruits is just right, but a little extra sweetness can enhance the flavors.

Texture Preference

Use a food processor first to ensure smoothness and then adjust with a blender or strainer for your preferred consistency, whether smooth and creamy or with some texture from seeds.

Variations

Experiment with different fruits or add a splash of citrus juice for a tangy twist. I’ve tried adding mango and pineapple, which turned out to be a tropical bliss! You can also include other seeds or nuts for additional crunch and nutrition.
